dmAFRICA is pleased to promote this unique and exclusive, first-of-its-kind cultural exchange with the Bushmen. This unique experience offers the chance to learn from one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating cultures.

While staying at JACKS CAMP guests are invited to learn the ancient Ju’/hoansi Bushmen traditions and techniques for survival in the desert and to witness the sacred trance dance rituals. In an ongoing effort to preserve and support the Bushmen’s incredible and rapidly disappearing culture, Uncharted Africa Safari co., who are the custodians of this area, have welcomed a group of twenty-four Ju’/hoansi to Jack’s Camp. In addition to allowing guests to learn and understand their culture it provides a much needed source of income to the Bushmen people. Perhaps most importantly though, it values and respects this age-old culture and encourages the community to pass down their cherished history and traditions.Guests staying for three nights would experience this unique lifestyle during walks with the Bushmen, presenting them with the opportunity to see the desert through the eyes of the Bushmen, understand their survival techniques and how this ancient lifestyle is connected with nature.

With this new experience, guests go out with the whole community of men and women; see the gathering, traditionally a task performed by the women, as well as the men’s tracking techniques. On a longer stay, guests get an opportunity to spend an entire day with the Bushmen and develop a deeper understanding of the Bushman culture through witnessing their skills, such as crafting bows, arrows and jewelry, as well the games they play – providing insight and exposure on their cultural and spiritual beliefs.
