TIMELESS TUSITIRI DHOW NOW AT VAMIZI

Unique opportunities are hard to find but the magical Tusitiri dhow is now based at Vamizi Island and offering guests the opportunity to enjoy a dhow safari during their stay.

Tusitiri, which is normally based in Lamu, Kenya, is one of the finest dhows on the East African coastline today and has been meticulously restored to comfortably accommodate up to ten guests for half and full day excursions as well as overnight safaris, booked on an exclusive basis.

Offering an enchanting combination of simplicity and indulgence, Tusitiri is a charming way to explore the islands and waters around Vamizi and the Quirimbas Archipelago. Life on board is laid back and centred on her beautiful wide deck (Tusitiri is 58ft long by 23 ft wide) with cushioned seating areas and a central dining area around the dhow's mast.

Nights are spent under the stars on comfortable bedrolls laid out on the deck and meals, usually fresh seafood and local produce accompanied by an excellent selection of house wines, are taken al fresco. Bathrobes and kikoi towels are supplied and below deck there are bathroom facilities as well as cabin space for luggage and dressing.

On board hosts John and Lulu Clark are both wildlife and ocean enthusiasts. As well as being a qualified safari guide, John is a keen fisherman, and the Tusitiri galley benefits from Lulu's culinary training and experience.

Full or half days safaris can only be booked by the island team while clients are on Vamizi. Overnight safaris (two or more nights) should be booked in advance with dmAFRICA sales@dmAFRICA.com  prior to the clients' travel. Download  for more details Vamizi Tusitiri Dhow

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain
